Morse Pitches Spirit to Victory

Lynn, MA– The New Fraser Field played host to a classic pitcher's duel Tuesday night. North Shore Spirit starter Bryan Morse and Aces hurler Max Newill matched each other zero for zero all night, but in the end it was Morse and the Spirit who came away with the thrilling 1-0 victory.

Morse (7-2) allowed only five hits and struckout seven over 8 1/3 innings. Ryan Bicondoa recorded the final two outs for his league-leading 15th save.

The games lone run was scored in the top of the sixth. Nelson Teilon ledoff with a single to center and advanced to second on a basehit by Vic Davilla. After a Joe Hastings sac bunt, Frank Charles drove home Teilon with a grounder to third.

Yuri Sanchez and Teilon each had two hits. The win was North Shore's fourth in a row and improved their second half record to 7-1.

Ben Knapp (4-3) takes the mound for the Spirit on Wednesday and will face RHP Mario Gonzalez (1-0) from the Aces. Wednesday's game begins at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm.
