Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - Following back-to-back losses against the Eastern Conference leading Oshawa Generals, the Belleville Bulls return home to the Yardmen Arena Wednesday night after earning 3 of 6 possible points last weekend. The Steelheads' first of two trips to Belleville is set for 7:05pm.

Mississauga is led by Sophomore centre Bryson Cianfrone who has posted 3 goals and 11 assists in 13 games played. Russian import Sam Babinstev and overage defenceman Brandon Devlin, who was acquired from Peterborough a day before the season, lead their club with 5 goals a piece.

The Steelheads are coming off a 2-1 home victory over their Central Division rivals the Niagara IceDogs. Two first period goals helped them add a couple more points to their total. Rookie winger Marcus Dickerson (2) and Cianfrone (3) were the only players to find the back of the net for Mississauga.

"I would expect a very competitive game. They are a team that has played all of their opponents very well and they have played some of the top teams in our league very tightly. They are well structured and carry the league's second best penalty kill at this time. We have to be at our very best tonight and continue to build off of what I thought was probably our best effort so far in Oshawa on Sunday afternoon." said Head Coach George Burnett.

The Bulls dropped a two goal lead in the third period before falling 4-3 in a shootout last Sunday in Oshawa. Jordan Subban extended his point streak to 8 games, picking up an assist on Belleville's first goal scored by Remi Elie (10). Other scorers for the Bulls were Brett Welychka (4) and Adam Laishram (2). Stephen Harper and Michael Cramarossa added shootout markers in the loss.

Two of the OHL's best goaltenders, Ken Appleby and Charlie Graham, went head to head in front of a sold out GM Centre. Graham made 35 saves while Appleby, who continues to lead the league in goals against, made 21.

The Bulls will still be without forward Brandon Saigeon and defenceman Jack Hanley. Saiegon is still competing at the U17 World Hockey Challenge for Canada (Team Black) and Hanley continues to recover from an upper body injury. Saigeon has 1 assist in 3 games played in the tournament. Burnett said Hanley is progressing well but will remain out of the lineup.

Connor Hicks is expected to start between the pipes. Hicks made 50 saves in his last start against the Sarnia Sting.
