Akron RubberDucks News Release
Altoona struck early and often off of RubberDucks starter Shawn Morimando on their way to a 9-4 victory on Monday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
The Curve struck for four runs in the top of the 4th off of Akron starter Shawn Morimando (1-2). Sebastian Valle's two-run double with the bases loaded started the rally for Altoona. It was an interesting inning as the Curve scored additional runs on a Morimando wild pitch and a pickoff play to first, when the runner broke from third on the ensuing rundown. Gift Ngoepe's RBI single made it 5-2 Curve and it was too much for the Ducks to overcome.
Mound Presence
Akron starter Shawn Morimando struggled for the first time this season. In his four innings he allowed five runs on six hits while walking three batters. Grant Sides worked in and out of trouble allowing one run and five hits in his two innings. Jacob Lee struggled allowing three runs in his two innings. Altoona starter Jason Creasy allowed four runs and seven hits in his five innings of work. Relievers Jhondaniel Medina and Josh Smith each worked two scoreless innings to close out the night.
