April 16, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
West Valley City, Utah - Jake Moreland stopped all 37 Utah shots on Wednesday, leading the Fresno Falcons to a 3-0 win in game three of the National Conference Quarterfinals in front of 2,906 fans at The E Center. Utah leads the best-of-seven series 2 games to 1.
Fresno scored the lone goal of the opening period at the 11:16 mark. Kenny Bernard stole the puck off of Jeff Dwyer's stick in the neutral zone, and skated in on a 2-on-1 rush with Oren Eizenman. Bernard fed the puck to Eizenman on the far post, and he flipped a shot past Nathan Lawson for his third goal of the series.
Utah had good pressure in the early moments of the third period, firing 10 shots at Moreland in the first 6:30, but the Falcons goaltender kept the Grizzlies off the board.
Josh Prudden provided the Falcons with some breathing room with a power-play goal at 15:30. Joe Van Culin moved the puck to Prudden in the right-wing circle and he rifled a shot past Lawson to extend Fresno's lead to 2-0.
Daryl Marcoux added an empty-net, power-play goal at 19:39 to set the final.
Utah out-shot Fresno 37-34 on the night, including 17-10 in the third period.
Game four of the series is set for Friday, with face-off at 6:05 p.m. PT. Catch all of the action on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 5:50. Fans should note that Falcons' road playoff games will NOT be aired at Rep's Sports Bar.
