More Changes for the Defending Kelly Cup Champions

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Hockey League's Atlanta Thrashers have re-assigned defensemen LUKE SELLARS and PAUL FLACHE, and goaltender MICHAEL GARNETT to the Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League. The Grrrowl also announced on Thursday the addition of forward JUDD MEDAK to the roster. All four players were skating with the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.
SELLARS returns to Greenville after helping lead the Grrrowl to the 2002 Kelly Cup Championship. In his rookie campaign last season, the 21-year old, Toronto, Ontario native recorded 8 points and 61 penalty minutes in 21 regular season games with the Grrrowl, and contributed 13 points and 44 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games. He also appeared in 31 games with the Wolves, and 1 game with the Thrashers.

FLACHE registered six penalty minutes in two pre-season games with the Wolves before today's re-assignment. The 20-year old Lakehurst, Ontario native was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 5th round (152nd overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft as an 18-year old. He re-entered the draft as a 20-year old, and was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 5th round (144th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Last season, he recorded a career-high 44 points and 148 penalty minutes in 68 games with Brampton of the(OHL).
GARNETT registered a .914 save percentage and a 3.97 goals against average in 2 pre-season games with the Wolves. The 19-year old Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2nd round (80th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Garnett also backed-up Thrashers goaltender Milan Hnilicka last April 13th in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
MEDAK recorded 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 points and 2 penalty minutes in three pre-season games with the Wolves. The 23-year old Edmonton, Alberta native scored 91 points and registered 293 penalty minutes in 144 career games at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Last year in his senior season, Medak recorded 51 points and 109 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Bulldogs.
In another Grrrowl roster move, ALEXANDRE MENARD-BURROWS has been removed from the roster, but remains Greenville property pending immigration visa.

The East Coast Hockey League's regular season begins Friday when the defending Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl travel to Charlotte to face the Checkers at Cricket Arena (7:35 PM, WORD Radio).
