FLORENCE, SC – Pee Dee Pride Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Davis Payne today announced his team's opening night roster. The Pride open their sixth season tomorrow night against the South Carolina Stingrays.

Twenty players are on the team's opening roster. However, only 19 are on the active roster. Center Gregor Krajnc will begin the season on the injured reserve list. The second-year player is still recovering from off-season surgery to repair an injured shoulder.

In addition to Krajnc, there are nine other players who spent time with the Pride last season: Lou Mass, Matt Reid, Mike Torney, Allan Sirois, Wes Goldie, Eric Naud, B. J. Adams, Aaron Gates and Jason Robinson. Naud will not be available for tomorrow night's game, as he will serve a one-game suspension for his actions in Saturday's pre-season game at South Carolina.

Players released from AHL camps bolstered the Pride roster in the past several days. Kyle Kidney, who played last season with Quad City in the UHL and Hershey of the AHL, joined the team Saturday after being released by the Binghamton Senators of the AHL. Dan Carriere, who was signed by the Pride over the summer, attended AHL camp with the Cleveland Barons, and arrived in Florence yesterday. The final addition, Preston Mizzi, comes to the Pride with impressive credentials. Last year, he was named to the ECHL Northern Conference All-Star Team while playing with Dayton. He also spent time in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch. Mizzi averaged nearly a point per game in Dayton last season, scoring 42 points in 44 games. Mizzi also totaled 126 penalty minutes in his time with the Bombers. In 27 games with the Crunch he tallied six points.

The Pride are home for a pair of games on opening weekend, taking on South Carolina tomorrow and Columbia on Saturday. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the civic center parking lot will host a tailgate party. From 5:30 until 7:30 there will be inflatable games for the kids, live music, 1,000 free hot dogs from IGA and W. Lee Flowers, and free drinks from Pepsi of Florence. For tickets, stop by the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or call TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333.
