Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League have extended an invitation to members of the Police Force and Fire Department to join the team at their regular season home opener this Saturday, October 12th at 7:05 PM. On that night, the Grrrowl will proudly raise their 2002 Kelly Cup Championship banner in a very special pre-game ceremony.

Any member of these two organizations who shows their badge at the BI-LO Center Box Office will receive up to four complimentary tickets to the game against the in-state rival South Carolina Stingrays.

"I have spent 35 years working in sports and I know championships do not come easily", said ScheerSports Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Carl Scheer. "It will be a great moment in Grrrowl franchise history when that championship banner is raised Saturday night, and it's my honor to offer our brave firefighters and police officers the opportunity to share this experience."

Senior VP and General Manager Byron Rucker said, "Police officers and firefighters give so much to our community. This is a chance for us to give a little something back." Rucker added, "The Grrrowl are champions of the East Coast Hockey League, and the men and women who serve as officers and firefighters are the champions of our community. They are the real hero's."

Fans planning on attending the game on Saturday night at the BI-LO Center (7:05 PM) are encouraged to arrive early. The ceremony will include the banner raising, a re-presentation of the Kelly Cup, and the presentation of the championship rings to those players returning from last season.

Greenville Grrrowl season tickets, mini-plans, flex packs and individual game tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased at the BI-LO Center Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. For more information, call (864) 467-GRRR or log onto www.grrrowl.com.
