Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - On the 28th attempt of the shootout in Friday night's tilt versus the Americans, Chris Moran wristed the puck past Allen netminder Marco Cousineau to complete the Brahmas' 4-3 come-from-behind victory.
Allen held a commanding 3-0 lead midway through the second period behind goals from Brian McMillan, Nick Layton and Joshua Hepditch. But Texas fought back with three unanswered goals before the end of regulation. Phil Fox and T.J. Fox scored before the end of the second period, and Erik Spady netted the equalizer with 6:55 to play in the third period.
After a scoreless overtime, it took 28 total attempts in the shootout (14 for each team) for a winner to be decided, but Moran's game-winner put an end to a three-game losing streak for the Brahmas. The Brahmas faced elimination in the shootout four times and scored on each attempt.
Texas goaltender Mark Guggenberger made 19 saves on 22 Allen shots, holding the Americans scoreless for the final 38:44 of regulation and overtime. Cousineau stopped 31 of 34 shots fired by the Brahmas.
The Brahmas look to make it two in a row when they host the Laredo Bucks on Saturday, February 11 at 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
