Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fell to the Texas Brahmas 2-1.

The Laredo Bucks and the Texas Brahmas met Saturday night in North Richland Hills for the tenth time this season. The last time these two teams met the Bucks shutout the Brahmas 1-0.

The Brahmas jumped out to a 1-0 lead, only 3:28 into the first period of play. Tyler Barr notched the goal for Texas. The Bucks had a 5 on 3 opportunity, at 12:20, but were unable to capitalize on the powerplay. Torrie Jung made several key saves in the frame to keep it a one goal game. The Bucks were outshot 15-7 in the opening period.

The Brahmas were the first to score once again in the second period. This time Adam Hogg scored the goal at 1:19 to give Texas a 2-0 lead. However the Bucks were able to capitalize on their third powerplay opportunity of the game, when David Inman lit the lamp. Inman scored the goal at 4:44 and was assisted by Neil Trimm and Matt Boyd. The goal cut the Brahma lead to 2-1. The Bucks spent most of the second half of the period battling in the Texas zone. The Bucks were only outshot by the Brahmas 11-10 in the middle frame.

The Bucks penalty kill unit went to work early in the second period, successfully killing off a two minute Brahma powerplay. Laredo was applying pressure on the Brahmas as they tried to get the tying goal. Torrie Jung received some help from Matt Boyd, when he slid into the slot at 13:39 to stop the Brahmas from jamming in a rebound. The Bucks were not able to clear the puck out of the Laredo zone during the final minutes of play, so they were unable to pull Torrie Jung for the extra attacker. The Brahmas outshot the Bucks in the final frame 16-7.

The Laredo Bucks will continue their road-trip where they will face the Wichita Thunder on Valentine's Day before heading north to Rapid City, South Dakota. The Bucks return home Wednesday, February 22nd, where they will once again face the Killer Bees. The puck will drop at 7pm at the Laredo Energy Arena.
