ALLEN, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (20-20-6) rallied in the third period but eventually fell to the Allen Americans (27-11-8) by a 4-2 final on Saturday night. Brandon Campos and Aaron Lee each scored for the Bees.

The Killer Bees and Americans skated to a scoreless first period with the two teams trading chances but both goalies being up to the task.

Twenty-one seconds is all that separated the Killer Bees from another scoreless period against Allen.

Jim McKenzie got the first goal of the game for the Americans at 4:39 of the second. McKenzie picked up a feed in front from Jason Deitch. For McKenzie it was his 16th goal of the season.

Off the following draw the puck ended in the Killer Bees zone and after a failed clearing attempt Trevor Hendrikx took a shot from the point that bounced off the stick of John Murray to the back of the net just 21 seconds later.

An extended power-play in the third period allowed the Bees to rally back and tie the game at two. Brandon Campos scored the first goal for the Bees after deflected a Craig Lineker shot from the point in between the pads of the Allen goalie.

Minutes later the Bees tied the game as Aaron Lee put in the rebound off a cannon from the point from Georgi Petrov. The extended power-play all came after Trevor Hendrikx was ejected for cross-checking.

Allen scored a power-play goal of their own at 11:15 to take the final lead of the game. Despite pulling goalie John Murray the Bees were unable to find the second equalizer and an empty net goal by the Americans iced the game.

The Bees return to action Sunday afternoon against the Tulsa Oilers at 4:05 p.m. from the BOK Center. Fans can follow the game on 956sports.com and CHL-TV.
