MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League this evening partnered with the Genesis Health Services Foundation to raise $19,500 for cardiac care at the Genesis Heart Institute through a Genesis Heart Night game-worn jersey auction after the Mallards' game against the Arizona Sundogs at the i wireless Center.

The Mallards wore special edition red and white Heart Night jerseys during the game and those sweaters went up for bid in a live auction immediately following the contest. The highest bidding was for the jersey of forward Eric Giosa, which was auctioned off for $1,900.

Over the last 17 years Mallards jersey auctions have raised better than $600,000 to benefit Genesis Health System charities.

The Genesis Heart Institute provides compassionate, quality patient services that meet the cardiovascular needs of the eastern Iowa and western Illinois regions. The Institute is a multidisciplinary association of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and vascular surgeons who collaborate on the best approaches to managing and treating cardiovascular disease. The mission of the Genesis Health Services Foundation is to develop, manage and grant charitable support to meet the health-related needs of the communities Genesis Health System serves.

The Mallards return to action on home ice tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. against the Sundogs. A Genesis Postgame Family Skate will follow the game- fans can bring their skates and join the Mallards on the ice. After the game, fans are also invited to join the Mallards at Chilli's in Davenport for a postgame party.
