Mallards Pull Away in Third for 4-2 Win

MOLINE, IL - The Arizona Sundogs scored two goals in the third just over a minute apart to make it a one-goal game, but Jeremy Boyer added an insurance tally for the Quad City Mallards to seal a 4-2 win on Saturday night at the iWireless Center.

Kyle Hood from the left circle at 3:35 and Craig Macdonald at 4:44 from the right circle scored Arizona's third period goals to the deficit to 3-2. Boyer's tally came on a one-timer in the slot midway through the frame.

Leading 1-0 entering the second, Quad City took control of the game with a pair of goals to extend their lead. Sean Flanagan scored on Brandon Marino's centering pass from the corner at 4:52. John Snowden then added a power play goal from the slot with just under five minutes to play on another centering feed by Marino.

Scott Reid took the loss for Arizona despite a 40-save performance. David Brown earned the win for the Mallards, stopping 36.

The Sundogs finished 1-for-5 on the power play while Quad City went 1-for-3.

Eric Giosa gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead with the first period's only goal at 7:31.

The Sundogs close out their three-game weekend on Sunday against the Mallards. Game time is set for 3:05 PM MST.
