Mooseheads Acquire Multiple Draft Picks for McIsaac

January 6, 2020 - Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) - Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Halifax, N.S. - The Halifax Mooseheads have acquired four draft picks from the Moncton Wildcats in exchange for defenceman Jared McIsaac.

The Mooseheads will receive a 1st round pick (MON) in 2022, a 3rd round pick (BAT) in 2020, a 3rd round pick (MON) in 2021 and a 5th round pick (MON) in 2022.

McIsaac has spent his entire career in Halifax after the team made him the second overall selection at the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft. The Truro, NS native is second in franchise history for points by a defenceman with 143. He was named the QMJHL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2016-17 and was a QMJHL Second-Team All-Star last season. He has represented Hockey Canada on numerous occasions, culminating with a victory in yesterday's World Junior Hockey Championship gold medal final versus Russia. He was a second round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2018. McIsaac joins former Mooseheads teammate Benoit-Olivier Groulx with the Moncton Wildcats who will make their next visit to Halifax on Sunday, February 23rd.

The QMJHL trade period closes today at Noon ET.
