HAMILTON, ON -- Though the Manitoba Moose kept grasping at a comeback, the Hamilton Bulldogs converted an early two-goal lead into a 6-2 victory Wednesday night at the Copps Coliseum. Manitoba allowed three powerplay goals and one shorthanded goal in their first Wednesday night loss this season. Guillaume Desbiens and Pierre-Cedric Labrie scored for the Moose while Hamilton's Max Pacioretty led all skaters with three points.

Moose netminder Cory Schneider was called upon to face the Bulldogs for the seventh time this season, but Bulldogs goalie Marc Denis would be the first to face the puck.

Five minutes later, a hooking penalty to Brock Trotter gave the Moose the chance to open the scoring on the powerplay, but the home team held strong through the two-minutes and the game remained scoreless.

At 7:56 Ben Maxwell put the Moose on their second powerplay with a hooking sentence. Even though Manitoba was on the man-advantage and outshooting Hamilton 6-3, the Bulldogs assumed the game's first lead, thanks to a shorthanded surge by Ryan Russell.

After the Bulldogs put themselves up by a goal, they were also up a man when Travis Ramsey was locked up for tripping. Despite racking up two shots on the man-advantage the Bulldogs were unable to extend their lead.

Hamilton was handed their second powerplay 7:54 into the second period allowing the Bulldogs to double their lead. Ben Maxwell fed the puck to a patient Mike Glumac who wired it into the net, 2-0.

Manitoba's Guillaume Desbiens ensured the two-goal game wouldn't last long, however. Although Denis stopped the first attempt by Raymond Sawada, a rebound made its way out to Desbiens, who capitalized for the 21st time this season to set the score at 2-1.

With two consecutive penalties dealt to Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Nathan McIver, the Bulldogs benefited from a five-on-three for just over a minute. Outshooting the Moose, 29-16, Manitoba product Brock Trotter swept the puck behind Schneider to regain his club's two-goal lead, 3-1.

The third period saw early scoring action from the Moose. Pierre-Cedric Labrie flew down the left side of the ice and before he was brought to his knees by a Hamilton defenseman, he desperately one-handed the puck into the net for a 3-2 tally.

Hamilton fought right back and earned two goals in 17 seconds. Chad Anderson earned the fourth and Ryan Russell notched the fifth for a 5-2 score in favor of the Bulldogs. After the consecutive Hamilton goals, Curtis Sanford swapped spots with Schneider between the pipes.

On their seventh man-advantage, the Bulldogs netted their sixth goal of the night. Yanick Lehoux wired the puck through the traffic and into the net on their 39th shot of the night.

Despite final efforts, the Moose dropped their final regular season game against the Bulldogs 6-2 at the Copps Coliseum.
