MOOSE NOTES
Despite Sunday's 6-3 defeat to the Milwaukee Admirals, the Moose are still 3-1-1 in their last five games. However, they are only 3-6-1 in their last 10 thanks to a five-game losing streak which preceded Manitoba's current home-stand.
Pat Kavanagh has enjoyed great success at the Winnipeg Arena this season. He is the team's leading scorer at home with 14 goals and 23 points. He is +5 in 28 games. But away from home, Kavanagh has two goals and nine points and is -4 in 32 games. On the other side, Ryan Ready has scored five goals and 16 points on the road, while notching only two goals and six points at the Winnipeg Arena.
After allowing a power play goal in each of their previous six games, Manitoba has gone five games without allowing a power play goal. Over the last five games, they are 17-for- 17 and have two shorthanded gamewinning goals (Ryan Kesler vs. SA Feb. 21/04 & Pat Kavanagh vs. ALB Feb. 25/04).
Manitoba's leading scorer in the month of February was forward Jason King. King played 12 games with Manitoba last month, scoring six goals and five assists for 11 points.
Entering the week, the Manitoba Moose have 18 games left on their regular season schedule, with 11 of them coming at the Winnipeg Arena. 10 of those 11 games will be played against teams in the North Division, while five of the remaining seven road games will also be against teams in the North Division. In total, the Moose will play 15 of their remaining 18 games against North Division rivals. The Moose enter the week with a division record of 11-16-2.
Manitoba enters the week 20th in the AHL in power play percentage at 13.2%. They finished the week 1-for- 14 to fall from 19th. The Moose enter the week 24th in penalty killing thanks to a perfect 9-for-9 week. As a result, they rose two spots from 26th overall.
