
Moose Drop All Five Games In Week 6

The Manitoba Moose dropped all five games in Week 6 putting them on a season-high five-game losing skid heading into Week 7. They suffered back-to-back 3-1 losses when they hosted the Norfolk Admirals at MTS Centre to start off the month of November. The club then travelled south for their first three-in-three this season starting in Houston. The Aeros beat the Moose 4-1 in the first game of the set and the Texas Stars took the next two with a 4-0 shutout win followed by a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
Monday, November 2, 2009: Manitoba 1, Norfolk 3 In their first-ever meeting, the Manitoba Moose dropped a 3-1 decision to the Norfolk Admirals in front of 5,722 fans at MTS Centre on Monday night. Matt McCue scored his first of the season with Manitoba's only goal while goaltender Daren Machesney stopped 25 of 26 shots in his fourth consecutive start.
Tuesday, November 3, 2009: Manitoba 1, Norfolk 3 Manitoba forward Tommy Maxwell scored the first goal of the night but the Norfolk Admirals responded with three consecutive markers to earn a 3-1 victory over the Moose at MTS Centre on Tuesday night. Norfolk earned back-to-back 3-1 wins over the Moose to sweep their first-ever series against the club. Daren Machesney stopped 26 of 29 shots in his fifth consecutive appearance.
Thursday, November 5, 2009: Manitoba 1, Houston 4 The Manitoba Moose extended their losing streak to three straight games after dropping a 4-1 decision to the Houston Aeros on Thursday night at the Toyota Centre. Marco Rosa broke his 10-game pointless streak with Manitoba's only goal while goaltender Daren Machesney stopped 30 of 34 shots in his sixth consecutive straight. Maxime Noreau and Danny Irmen both notched two goals in the win.
Friday, November 6, 2009: Manitoba 0, Texas 4 The Manitoba Moose failed to score a single goal on Friday night and as a result dropped their first-ever matchup against the Texas Stars 4-0 in front of 5,589 fans at the Cedar Park Center. Goaltender Rejean Beauchemin stopped 22 of 26 shots in his Manitoba debut while former Moose Greg Rallo tallied a goal against his former mates in the Stars win.
Saturday, November 7, 2009: Manitoba 1, Texas 3 The Manitoba Moose extended their losing streak to five consecutive games when they closed out their second road trip of the season with a 3-1 loss to the Texas Stars at the Cedar Park Center on Saturday night. Veteran Marty Murray notched Manitoba's lone goal while goaltender Daren Machesney stopped 20 of 23 shots in the loss.

UNFORTUNATE FIVESOME: After dropping a 3-1 decision to the Texas Stars on Saturday night, the Moose head into Week 7 on a season-high five game losing streak. The overall skid started with consecutive 3-1 losses against Norfolk on November 2 & 3, 2009 followed by a 4-1 loss to Houston on November 5, 2009 and a 4-0 shutout loss to the Stars on November 6, 2009 The longest losing streak in Moose franchise history is eight games from January 1 to February 11, 2005.
NASTY NOVEMBER: The Manitoba Moose have yet to notch a win in November, dropping all five games they have played in the 11th month so far. This is the first time in AHL history that the Moose have dropped the five opening games of a month. With a 0-5-0-0 record, the Moose still have seven games remaining, four at home (November 13-14 vs. Toronto; November 21-21 vs. Hamilton) and three away (November 25 at Rockford; November 27 at Peoria; November 28 at Chicago).
MAN-GAMES LOST: The Manitoba Moose have suffered a total of 86 man-games lost due to injury and call-ups so far this season. A total of 45 of those games are from call-ups to the Vancouver Canucks and spanned over Cory Schneider (7), Matt Pettinger (5), Guillaume Desbiens (1), Michael Grabner (14), Alexandre Bolduc (12), Sergei Shirokov (3) and Mario Bliznak (3). The other 41 man-games lost are thanks to injury and illness spread over Matt Pope (7), Brian Salcido (6), Lawrence Nycholat (16), Pierre-Cedric Labrie (3), Eric Walsky (2), Guillaume Desbiens (5), Dusty Collins (1) and Alexandre Bolduc (1).
Upcoming Opponents
For the first time this season, the Moose will host the Toronto Marlies in a weekend double-header this upcoming Friday and Saturday at MTS Centre. Last season, the Moose accumulated a 2-4-1-1 record against the Marlies bringing their all-time record against the Toronto club to 20-8-2-1.

Daren Machesney
For the second consecutive time this season, Moose netminder Daren Machesney is the nominee for AHL Player of the Week... This week, the Hamilton, ON. native stopped 96 of 108 shots in four games played... He allowed two goals in a 3-1 loss (empty-netter) to Norfolk on November 2 and stopped 26 of 29 shots in the rematch the following night, where the Moose also suffered a 3-1 loss... On November 5 he set aside 30 of 34 shots in a 4-1 loss to Houston where his club was outshot 34-15... On November 7 he set stopped 20 of 23 shots, one goal scored on the powerplay, when the Moose closed-out their Texas road trip with a 3-1 loss to the Stars... In nine games played he holds a 2-7-0 record, 2.52 GAA, and 0.907 save percentage...
