SHREVEPORT, La. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants' pitching staff combined for a six-hit shutout of the South Division's best team on Tuesday night, blanking the Shreveport-Bossier Captains, 7-0. The Pheasants upped their league-best record to 54-25 overall and maintained first place in the North Division.

Ben Moore (10-4) was magnificent in seven innings, limiting the Captains to five hits without walking a batter. Moore fanned three on his way to becoming the second Sioux Falls pitcher to post 10 wins this season. His season total is 107 strikeouts, now three away from a new single-season franchise record and five punchouts from a league record.

The Captains' starter Osvaldo Rodriguez (10-3) nearly matched Moore, allowing one run and five hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out three. Reggie Abercrombie brought in the Pheasants only run off Rodriguez with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, plating Tim Hutting. Hutting led off the inning with a triple.

The Pheasants tallied five runs in the eighth inning off reliever Mark Haynes. Abercrombie, Beau Torbert and Brandon Sing each had run-scoring hits. The Pheasants were helped by three walks, two errors, a wild pitch and passed ball from the Captains.

Brandon Rapoza and Ryan Grant each threw a scoreless inning in relief to complete the shutout.

Abercrombie was 2-for-4 with three RBI, adding an RBI single in the ninth. Hutting had his third consecutive mutli-hit game, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk and a sacrifice.

The Pheasants complete the two-game series against the Shreveport-Bossier Captains at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11. The game will be broadcast live on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230 AM KWSN and www.kwsn.com.
