Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Memphis, TN - Scott Moore hit two home runs and three pitchers combined to blank Omaha on six hits in a 4-0 Memphis victory Friday night in the second of a four-game set at AutoZone Park. The Storm Chasers slipped to 18-21 overall as their three-game win streak was brought to a halt.

Nick Greenwood made a spot start in place of Boone Whiting, the scheduled hurler who was placed on the disabled list earlier in the day, and gave the Redbirds three scoreless innings during which he allowed a pair of hits and struck out one. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Moore blasted a solo shot off of Omaha starter Sugar Ray Marimon.

Justin Wright took over in the fourth and was rather impressive, blanking the visitors on three hits while fanning four over three frames to earn the win in his Triple-A debut. He also benefitted from a tremendous sliding catch by left fielder Tommy Pham on a Brian Fletcher fly ball that left Brett Eibner stranded at third base to end the sixth. Paulo Orlando opened the seventh with a single, stole second base and moved to third base on a fly out but was left there after Jose Almarante struck out Matt Fields and got Melky Mesa to ground out. The Redbirds right-hander then set down the side in order in the eighth and ninth innings to register his first save of the season.

Moore than made the missed opportunity loom even larger by leading off the bottom half of the seventh with his second round tripper of the night. Marimon wound up going seven solid innings, yielding five hits while walking two and punching out six but suffered the loss. Donnie Joseph replaced him in the eighth and surrendered a two-run clout to Randal Grichuk, his third in the series and fifth in his last five games, that finished the scoring.

The series continues Saturday evening with Omaha right-hander Aaron Brooks making the start against Memphis right-hander Angel Castro. Coverage of the game gets underway at 5:45 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
