Trio of Memphis Relievers Blank Omaha, 4-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds handed the Omaha Storm Chasers a 4-0 shutout behind nine scoreless innings from a trio of Memphis relievers and three home runs from Scott Moore and Randal Grichuk on Friday night at AutoZone Park

Moore went yard twice in the win, accounting for the club's first two runs of the night. It was the fourth multi-home run effort by a Redbirds player this season and sixth occurrence of Moore's 13-year professional career.

Grichuk, who went yard for the third straight game and fourth time in his last five contests, had a two-run blast that capped of the eighth inning. His two hits also extended his season-best hitting streak to six games.

Memphis pitchers Nick Greenwood, Justin Wright (1-0), and Jose Almarante combined for six hits and each threw three innings.

Greenwood hurled three scoreless innings and struck out one for a no-decision in a spot start to replace scheduled starter Boone Whiting.

Wright picked up a win in his Triple-A debut, striking out four over three shutout innings on 40 pitches (30 for strikes). The left-hander wrung up Jimmy Paredes for first Triple-A strikeout and fanned the side in the fifth.

Almarante worked around one hit over the final three frames to collect his first Triple-A save.

Moore's first homer of the game - a line drive over the right field wall - gave the Redbirds a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. He led off seventh inning with his second blast of the game, a towering shot to right on the first pitch from Sugar Ray Marimon.

Storm Chasers starter Marimon (3-2) struck out six and allowed to Moore homers over seven innings for the defeat.

The two teams continue their series at 6:05 pm CT on Saturday night at AutoZone Park. Memphis will throw right-hander Angel Castro (4-2, 3.65) to face Omaha right-hander Aaron Brooks (2-1, 3.29).
