Mankato MoonDogs News Release
MANKATO, Minn.--The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club is proud to announce a 6-1 victory over the Willmar Stingers Monday afternoon at the Frank. Officially making the MoonDogs the first team in the Northwoods league to reach twenty wins.
The MoonDogs were in search of revenge after losing to the Stingers Sunday evening. Craig Massoni (Chabot College) came out with a full head of steam, and led the way for the MoonDogs going two-for-two with a three run homerun in the first inning, and a two run homerun in the fifth inning. Massoni had five runs batted in making him the igniter to the MoonDogs fire.
Wayland Moore (Marshall) got the start on the mound as he went head to head v. Stingers pitcher Andrew Pulido. Moore recorded his second win of the season as he went five innings deep, just giving up one hit, and recorded three strikeouts. Monday's victory continues Moore's undefeated record to 2-0.
Aside from Massoni's big day at the plate, Nick Ratajczak (Louisville) contributed to the run fiesta by going three-for-five with a double, and one run batted in.
The MoonDogs showed their ability to fight back on Monday with swatting the Stingers to get themselves back in the win column. The MoonDogs will be traveling to Willmar for game three of the Stinger series, and try and continue to win as they attempt to take two games out of three from the Stingers.
The MoonDogs will be back at the Frank on Saturday June 30th to take on the St. Cloud Rox. Saturday is MoonDogs Team Poster giveaway presented by the Disabled American Veterans and KXLP. The first 750 fans will receive a free MoonDogs team poster courtesy of the Disabled American Veterans.
