June 25, 2012 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Alexandria Beetles News Release
Alexandria, MN - The Alexandria Beetles will be on the road to face the Willmar Stingers on June 30th, but that doesn't mean there won't be baseball at Knute Nelson Ballpark. The Military All-Stars will be in town to take on the Resorters League All-Stars in a festive event starting at 7:05 Saturday Night.
The Military All-Stars have embarked on the "Red White and Blue Tour" every summer since 1990, playing in cities all across the United States. The All-Stars were formed in 1990 by retired U.S. Navy Commander, Terry "Crash" Allevord. Allevord moved the team from Pensacola, Florida to San Diego, California in 1993.
The team features active duty, reserve, Veterans, Delayed Entry Program and First Responders. The All-Stars play in over 100 games annually and also make over 350 appearances every year. The trip to Alexandria will be a first for the Military All-Stars.
The Military All-Stars will take the field at Knute Nelson Memorial Ballpark against an all-star team made up players from the Resorters League. The Resorters League is made up of teams from the Alexandria Area, including teams in Ashby, Brandon-Evansville, Carlos, Clarissa, Kensington, Long Praire, Miltona, Osakis, Sauk Centre, and Urbank. The Resorters League is operated under Minnesota Amateur Baseball, in the Class C division.
The "Globetrotters of baseball" deliver unique patriotic events designed to honor America. They conduct choreographed pre-game ceremonies that include "passing the flag" and the "walk of honor" to celebrate American history in a moving tribute to honor those lost in the 9/11 tragedy.
The "Most Patriotic Tour in America" will be stopping in Alexandria on June 30th for ticket information, contact the Alexandria Beetles ticket office at 763-8151 or www.alexandriabeetles.com
