Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that centreman Garth Murray has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Murray will report to Hamilton on Monday, November 12th.
Murray, a 25-year-old native of Regina, Saskatchewan, appeared in one game this season with the Canadiens on October 16th against the Florida Panthers and was held scoreless before suffering a foot injury that forced him to miss six games (October 18-30). The game was Murray's 100th career National Hockey League contest, and in that span he has accumulated 10 points (8-2-10) and 100 penalty minutes with the Montreal Canadiens (2005-2007) and New York Rangers (2003-2004).
This will be the 6-foot-2, 209-pound forward's second stint in the AHL with the Bulldogs, previously registering a goal and an assist in 26 games with Hamilton in the 2005-2006 season. Murray has collected 26 goals, 31 assists, 57 points and 508 penalty minutes in 212-career AHL games with Hamilton and the Hartford Wolf Pack (2001-2005).
Montreal acquired Murray's rights from the New York Rangers on September 30th, 2005 in exchange for forward Marcel Hossa. The Rangers originally drafted Murray in the third round, 79th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
