CLEVELAND - With a season-long seven game home-stand underway on Friday, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters signed right wing Derek DeBlois and defenseman Eric Roy to AHL standard player contracts, the team announced Tuesday. A 5'11", 187 lb. right-handed shooter from Warwick, RI, DeBlois was loaned to the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays on Friday following his signing while Roy, a 6'3", 181 lb. left-handed shooting native of Beauval, SK, inked his deal with Lake Erie on Monday. Both players had previously been playing on professional tryout contracts (PTO's).
In 30 appearances for the Monsters this season, DeBlois, 24, contributed three goals, five points, 17 penalty minutes and a -2 rating. In 15 ECHL appearances for South Carolina this year, DeBlois notched four goals, nine points, 21 penalty minutes and a +8 rating. Last year, DeBlois scored 21 goals and added 45 points, 42 penalty minutes and a +17 rating in 59 ECHL appearances for South Carolina, along with four AHL appearances for the Worcester Sharks during which DeBlois netted one goal and a +1 rating.
