Defenseman Returns to Rockford on PTO

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced that they have signed defenseman Jonathan Carlsson to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Carlsson has a goal and four assists in addition to 20 penalty minutes in 46 games with the ECHL's Evansville IceMen in 46 games this season.

The Uppsala, Sweden native was drafted by the Blackhawks in the sixth round (#162 overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Carlsson played in 19 games for Rockford in 2009-10 and scored his first AHL goal with the IceHogs on Jan. 23, 2010 versus the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Carlsson has played for Bryans IF Gavle, Timra IK, and Sodertalje SK in Sweden, and the Toledo Walleye and Evansville IceMen in the ECHL since his stint with Rockford.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Feb. 17 vs. Manitoba Moose at 10:30 a.m. The IceHogs welcome the Moose to the BMO Harris Bank Center for the annual "School Day Game" in the first of four meetings on the season. Rockford is 7-8-1-0 all-time versus Manitoba.
