LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
Vs. Portland (4/9): Manchester Monarchs defenseman Alec Martinez scored the game-winning goal as they defeated the Portland Pirates, 4-3, on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena to extend the team's season-high win streak to eight games. Monarchs centers Corey Elkins, Andrei Loktionov and Oscar Moller joined Martinez on the scoreboard. Defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani, center Paul Byron and left wing Brad Larsen tallied for the Pirates. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (2-0-0) recorded his second victory in as many games with the Monarchs stopping 18-of-21 shots on net. Pirates netminder J.P. Lamoureux (13-11-2) drew the loss, stopping 24-of-28 shots. Manchester went 2-for-6 on the power play. Portland was 1-for-8 with the man advantage.
At Bridgeport (4/10): The Manchester Monarchs' season-high winning streak ended at eight games when they were shutout by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 2-0, at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Saturday night. Sound Tigers left wing Greg Mauldin and center Tyler Haskins scored the only goals of the game. Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Bernier (30-21-6) took his 21st loss of the season with 14 saves on 16 shots. Sound Tigers netminder Scott Munroe (19-16-3) earned his third shutout of the season stopping all 23 shots. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. Bridgeport was also 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
At Springfield (4/11): The Manchester Monarchs dropped their final game of the 2009-10 regular season, a 7-3 decision to the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center on Sunday afternoon. Defenseman Thomas Hickey, defenseman David Kolomatis and right wing John Zeiler scored for the Monarchs. Center Chad Wiseman (2), center Ryan O'Marra, left wing Chris Minard, right wing Colton Fretter and center Jordan Eberle (2) found the net for the Falcons. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (2-1-0) took his first professional loss with 24 saves on 31 shots. Sound Tigers netminder Olivier Roy (1-1-0) earned his first win of the season with 28 saves. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Springfield was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
NEWS & NOTES
The Manchester Monarchs (43-28-3-6) finished the 2009-10 regular season with 95 points, good for third place in the Atlantic Division behind the Worcester Sharks (49-25-3-3) who lead the division with 104 points followed by the Portland Pirates (45-24-7-4) who have 101 points.
Manchester is set to face-off against Portland in the 2010 Calder Cup Atlantic Division Semi-Finals which start on Friday, April 16 at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Head-to-head this season, the Monarchs have a record of 3-4-0-3 against the Pirates.

The Monarchs were 25-11-1-3 at the Verizon Wireless Arena this season.
Manchester finished the season with a record of 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games. The Monarchs won eight in a row and then dropped their final two games of the season.
The Monarchs penalty kill finished sixth in the AHL. They gave up 47 goals in 329 attempts when their opponent had the man advantage.
Their power play finished sixth in the league with 59 goals on 299 opportunities with the man advantage.
Manchester was outshot by their opponent in 53-of-80 games this season.

Left wing Bud Holloway (19-28=47) led the Monarchs in both assists (28) and points (47).
Holloway, center Oscar Moller (15-18=33) and right wing John Zeiler (11-9=20) finished tied for 17th in the AHL with five game-winning goals this season.
Center Corey Elkins (21-22=43) ranked second on Manchester's roster with 43 points.
Elkins led the Monarchs with 21 tallies this season.
Center Gabe Gauthier (8-27=35) finished the season in third place with 35 points.
Moller had his six-game scoring streak of nine points (3-6=9) come to an end when he was held off the scoreboard on Wednesday, March 31l. His streak tied Elkins for the longest point streak of the season. Elkins recorded eight points (5-3=8) from January 16-26. He's scored a goal in each of the last two contests.

Moller moved up the Monarchs roster and finished in sole possession of fourth place with 33 points (15-18=33).
Defenseman Alec Martinez (7-23=30) led the Monarchs with a plus/minus rating of plus-12, finished the season in fifth place on the Monarchs roster and led the blueliners with 30 points. His plus/minus was followed closely by right wing Scott Parse (4-11=15), who was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, March 3, and defenseman Joe Piskula (2-10=12) who finished with a plus-10 ratings.
Martinez recorded 16 points (3-13=16) in his last 13 games.
Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov (10-19=29) and defenseman David Kolomatis (8-21=29) finished the season tied for sixth place and only one point behind Martinez with 29 points.
Rookie center Andrei Loktionov (9-15$) returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, March 26 against Bridgeport after being sidelined with an upper body injury since November 25. In nine games since his return, Loktionov recorded seven points (3-4=7).
Goaltender Jonathan Bernier finished with a record of 30-21-6 in 58 games of the season. His 30 wins were ranked third in the AHL.
Bernier's nine shutouts led the AHL.
Bernier ranked second in the league with a 2.03 goals-against-average and ranked first with a .936 save percentage.
Bernier was recalled by the Kings on Monday, March 29 and appeared in two games with Los Angeles bringing his NHL total for the season to three games with a 3-0-0 record, a 1.30 goals-against-average, a .957 save percentage and one shutout. He was assigned to the Monarchs on Friday, April 2 and rejoined the team on Saturday, April 3.
Netminder Jeff Zatkoff played in 22 games for the Monarchs this season, recording a 10-9-0 record, a 2.92 goals-against-average, a .915 save percentage and two shutouts.
Goaltender J.F. Berube earned his first professional win in his debut on Friday, April 2 against the Sound Tigers by stopping 23-of-24 shots in the Monarchs 4-1 victory. In three games this season, Berube has a record of 2-1-0 with a 3.67 goals-against-average and a .855 save percentage.
