Wolves Bolster Roster With Five Additions Heading Into Playoffs

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned defenseman ARTURS KULDA (AHR-tuhrs KOOL-da) to the Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Anaheim Ducks have reassigned defenseman NATHAN OYSTRICK (OY-strihk) to the Wolves, and Chicago has signed center PATRICE CORMIER (pa-TREEZ KOHR-mee-ay) to an Amateur Tryout Contract.
The Thrashers also have reassigned left wing MICHAEL FORNEY from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators to the Wolves, and Chicago has recalled left wing PATRICK GALIVAN from Gwinnett.
KULDA appeared in two games with Atlanta after being recalled on Thursday, dishing out one assist. He appeared in four games with the Thrashers in his National Hockey League debut this season, collecting two points and a +2 plus/minus rating spanning two recalls.
The 21-year-old defenseman set a Wolves franchise record and shared first in the American Hockey League with a +46 plus/minus rating in 66 games this season. He ranked third among Wolves defensemen with a career-high 25 points (6G, 19A) during his second pro campaign this season.
OYSTRICK registered two penalty minutes in three outings with Anaheim after being recalled on April 1. He also appeared in 43 games with Chicago this season and ranks fourth among Wolves blueliners with 16 assists and 23 points.
The 27-year-old defenseman made his NHL debut with Atlanta last season, collecting 12 points (4G, 8A) and 50 penalty minutes in 53 games. He spent the previous two seasons with the Wolves and was a member of the 2008 Calder Cup Championship team.
CORMIER, who was the New Jersey Devils second-round selection, 54th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, was acquired by Atlanta as part of the Ilya Kovalchuk trade on Feb. 4. The 19-year-old forward recorded 31 points (11G, 20A) in 31 games with Rimouski Oceanic and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season, prior to being suspended after a hit on an opposing player. He also served as captain for the Canadian team at the 2010 World Junior Championship, notching five points (2G, 3A) in six games to help the team capture the silver medal.
GALIVAN and FORNEY split their seasons between Gwinnett and Chicago this year. GALIVAN, an Oak Park native, collected six points (2G, 4A) in 19 games with the Wolves and 42 points (20G, 22A) in 46 matchups with the Gladiators. FORNEY was scoreless in three games with Chicago and recorded 26 points (11G, 15A) in 63 outings with Gwinnett.
