Several Griffins Depart For Stanley Cup Playoffs And World Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday recalled Grand Rapids Griffins forwards Justin Abdelkader, Brad May and Mattias Ritola, defensemen Doug Janik and Jakub Kindl, and goaltender Daniel Larsson for the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, which the Wings will commence on Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT in Phoenix against the Coyotes.

In addition, right wing Jan Mursak (Slovenia) and defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen (Norway) will join their respective national teams at the 2010 IIHF World Championship, while left wing Tomas Tatar will try out for Slovakia's national squad.

Right wing Willie Coetzee, who made his professional debut with the Griffins on April 3, was reassigned to Red Deer (WHL), while rookie blueliner Brian Lashoff returned to Kingston (OHL) after appearing in Grand Rapids' final six games.
