Albany Releases Four Players From Tryout Contracts

Albany River Rats News Release
ALBANY, NY-The Albany River Rats announced today that the team has released defensemen Kevin Baker and Jason Lepine from their professional tryout contracts (PTOs). The American Hockey League club has also released defenseman Thomas Dignard and forward Mike McKenzie from their amateur tryout contracts (ATOs).
Baker, 30, signed a PTO with the River Rats on Saturday, April 10th and played in Albany's regular season finale that night in Glens Falls. The Kingston, ONT., native will return to the Florida Everblades to play in the 2010 Kelly Cup playoffs.
Lepine, 24, signed a PTO with the River Rats on Friday, April 9th and recorded two assists in his Albany debut that night in Wilkes-Barre. The Cornwall, ONT., native also played in the River Rats' season final on Saturday night in Glens Falls, and he now returns to the IHL's Bloomington Prairie Thunder.
Dignard, 22, signed an ATO with the River Rats on April 2nd after completing his senior NCAA season at Yale University. The Reading, MA., native played in Albany's final two regular season games, making his professional debut on April 9th in Wilkes-Barre.
McKenzie, 23, signed an ATO with the River Rats on March 23rd after completing his senior NCAA season at St. Lawrence University. The Whitby, ONT., native played in Albany's final three regular season games and scored an assist in his professional debut on April 3rd against Adirondack.
Albany enters the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs as the East Division's second seed. The River Rats will play Game 1 of their best-of-seven, first-round playoff series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday, April 14th at the Times Union Center.
