Monarchs to host first ECHL game in team history October 16

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs, proud ECHL Affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, will begin their 15th season of professional hockey in the city of Manchester, N.H. The first game in ECHL franchise history will be Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.

The Monarchs will open their season against the Brampton Beast of the Eastern Conference's North Division. Fans will receive a 2014-15 Calder Cup Championship Banner giveaway and a magnetic schedule courtesy of Ray the Mover. Fans will also have their chance to take pictures with the Calder Cup.

This past week, the Monarchs (1-0-1-0) played two preseason exhibition games with the Adirondack Thunder (1-0-1-0). Game 1 was played at the Glens Falls Civic Center, with the Monarchs winning in 3-on-3 overtime, 5-4. Alex Lintuniemi scored the winning goal at 2:33 in the extra frame.

Game 2 saw the Thunder travel to Sullivan Arena on the campus of Saint Anselm College. Adirondack took this game 3-2, again in 3-on-3 overtime. Stephen Buco scored the decisive goal at 2:03 in sudden death.
