LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

At Hartford (4/13): Left wing Dustin Brown had a goal and two assists as the Monarchs beat the Hartford Wolf Pack, 5-1, at the Hartford Civic Center on Wednesday night. Left wing Ryan Kinasewich, right wing Tom Kostopoulos and centers David Steckel and Michael Cammalleri also scored for the Monarchs. The lone Hartford goal belonged to center Jamie Lundmark. Monarchs goaltender Mathieu Garon earned the win by stopping 26 shots. Wolf Pack goaltender Jason LaBarbera, who was replaced by Steve Valiquette (9 saves) in the second period, took the loss, stopping 16 shots on 19 attempts. Manchester went 2-for-9 on the power play. Hartford was 0-for-7 on the power play. The Monarchs set new franchise records for penalty minutes in a game with 114 and opponent penalty minutes in a game with 148.

Vs. Lowell (4/15): Goaltender Cam Ward made 24 saves as the Lowell Lock Monsters skated past the Monarchs, 4-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Left wing Noah Clarke had the Monarchs only goal of the game, a power play marker midway through the third period. Left wing Colin Forbes, defenseman Danny Richmond, right wing Carsen Germyn and forward Sean Sutter lit the lamp for the Lock Monsters. Monarchs goaltender Mathieu Garon, who was replaced by Adam Hauser (26 saves) in the first period, stopped four of seven shots. Manchester went 1-for-8 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-6 on the power play.

At Bridgeport (4/16): Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz made 40 saves as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers edged the Monarchs, 2-1, at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Saturday night. Right wing George Parros scored a power play goal for the Monarchs at the end of the first period. Right wings Nathan Gillies and Barrett Heisten scored for the Sound Tigers. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser took the loss, his 11th of the season, stopping 18 shots. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Bridgeport was 0-for-5 on the power play.

At Worcester (4/17): Goaltender Mathieu Garon made 29 saves and earned his 32nd win of the season as the Monarchs skated past the Worcester IceCats, 2-1, for their first ever Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference championships at the DCU Center on Sunday night. Left wing Noah Clarke and defenseman Denis Grebeshkov scored for the Monarchs. Center Brendan Brooks scored the lone IceCats goal. Worcester goaltender Curtis Sanford took the loss, his 25th of the season, stopping 21 shots. Manchester and Worcester both went 0-for-1 on the power play.

MONARCHS TRANSACTIONS

4/18/05: Manchester returned on loan center Jeff Miles and left wing Ryan Kinasewich to Reading (ECHL).

4/15/05: Manchester signed center David Hymovitz to a professional tryout agreement.

Monarchs Open Conference Quarterfinals On Friday Night

2005 Calder Cup playoff tickets for the Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, are on sale now at the Verizon Wireless Arena box office.

Tickets for the Conference Quarterfinals are $18.50 for adults in the Gold level and $13.25 for adults in the Silver level of the Verizon Wireless Arena, $16.50 for seniors (65 and older) in the Gold level and $11.25 for seniors in the Silver level and $10.75 for youth tickets (12 and under) in both levels. The Monarchs will meet the Providence Bruins in the Conference Quarterfinals. Game 1 of the Monarchs and Bruins best-of-seven series begins at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday, April 22. Monarchs Season Ticket Holders should use Conference Quarterfinals – Game A tickets for this game.

Team Highlights

The Monarchs clinched their first-ever Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference championships with Sunday night's 2-1 win over the Worcester IceCats at the DCU Center.

The Monarchs 51 wins, 28 home wins, 23 road wins and 110 points (51-21-4-4, 110 points) are all new franchise records.

The Monarchs also set new franchise records for fewest losses (21) and fewest home losses (7).

The Monarchs collected a franchise record 258 goals in 2004-05. The team's 3.23 goals -per-game average ranked second best in the AHL. The Binghamton Senators 3.45 goals -per-game average ranked first.

The Monarchs led the AHL with 460 assists in 2004-05.

The Monarchs finished with a record of 41-1-2-1 in games where they scored three or more goals during the 2004-05 season.

The Monarchs allowed a franchise low 176 goals in 2004-05. The team's 2.20 goals -against-per-game average ranked second best in the AHL. The Hartford Wolf Pack's 2.00 goals -against-per-game average ranked first.

The Monarchs set a new franchise record with 13 shutouts in 2004-05.

The Monarchs were only shutout twice during the 2004-05 season, a franchise low.

The Monarchs set a new franchise record for power play goals in a season with 80 in 2004-05. Their 80 power play goals tied for second in the league. The Milwaukee Admirals led the league with 85 power play goals.

The Monarchs set a new franchise record with 2,044 penalty minutes in 2004-05.

The Monarchs set a new franchise record for penalty minutes in a game with 114 penalty minutes against the Wolf Pack on April 13.

The Monarchs set new franchise records for longest winning streak (13 games), longest home winning streak (10 games) and longest road winning streak (6 games) during the 2004-05 season.

The Monarchs tied for the league lead in wins with 51 and finished second in the league with a winning percentage of .688. The Rochester Americans led the league with a winning percentage of .700.

The Monarchs hosted 17 sellouts during the 2004-05 season and finished second in the league with an average of 9,052 fans per game.

The Chicago Wolves led the league with an average of 9,209 fans per game.

For the first time in the history of the franchise, the Monarchs finished with six 20-goal scorers on their roster (Cammalleri-46, Brown-29, Kostopoulos-25, Smyth-23, Lehoux-23, Clarke-21).

Individual Highlights

Center Michael Cammalleri set new franchise records for goals (46), assists (63), points (109) and power play goals (17) in a season.

Cammalleri led the league with 46 goals and his 109 points ranked second in the circuit behind only the Binghamton Senators Jason Spezza (117). Cammalleri's 63 assists and 17 power play goals finished third best in the league.

Cammalleri scored in 66 of the 79 games he skated in during the 2004-05 season. Four times he had scoring streaks of at least 10 games. His longest goal-scoring streak of the season lasted seven games (10 goals during the streak). His longest scoring streak of the season lasted 14 games (14-11=25 during the streak).

Left wing Noah Clarke tied a Monarchs franchise record with four short-handed goals in 2004-05.

Defenseman Joe Rullier set a new franchise record with 322 penalty minutes in 2004-05. His penalty minutes ranked fifth overall in the league.

Goaltender Mathieu Garon set new franchise records for appearances (52), minutes played (2969:10), wins (32) and shutouts in a season.

Goaltender Adam Hauser set new franchise records for goals -against-average (1.93) and save-percentage (.933) in a season.

Defenseman Mike Weaver led the Monarchs and finished third in the league with a plus-35 rating.

Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov led all AHL blueliners with 44 assists in 2004-05. His 49 overall points (5-44=49) tied for fourth in the circuit.

Left wing Chris Schmidt was the only Monarchs player to appear in all 80 regular season games during the 2004-05 season.

Career Records

Center Michael Cammalleri moved into the No. 1 spot on the Monarchs career scoring list with a goal against the Springfield Falcons on April 9. With his 165th point, Cammalleri passed former Monarchs center Steve Kelly (50-114=164) on the all-time list.

Cammalleri has 168 career points (71-97=168) in 133 career games for the Monarchs (2002-05).

Cammalleri moved into the No. 1 spot on the Monarchs career goals list with an overtime game-winning goal against the Portland Pirates on April 6. With that goal, he passed former Monarchs right wing Pavel Rosa (67) on the all-time list.

Cammalleri has 71 career goals for the Monarchs (2002-05).

Milestones

Center Michael Cammalleri collected his 100th point of the season with an assist against the Portland Pirates on April 6.

Right wing Brad Smyth appeared in his 500th AHL game on January 19 against the Worcester IceCats. Smyth, who finished the 2004-05 season ranked fourth on the Monarchs with 56 points (23-33=56), has 581 points (292-289=581) in 530 career AHL games.

Smyth has collected 20 goals or more in a season eight times during his AHL career.

Smyth's 292 career goals are 20th all-time in the AHL.

Defenseman Jason Holland skated in his 500th AHL game on April 3 against the Providence Bruins. The nine-year pro has 207 career points (49-158=207) in the AHL.
