Senators' Emery named Koho AHL Goaltender of the Month

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Ray Emery of the Binghamton Senators has been named the Koho AHL Goaltender of the Month for April. Emery won all six of his appearances, posting a 2.00 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage for the East Division champion Senators.
Emery ran his personal unbeaten streak to 12 games (10-0-2) with his perfect April. Highlights of the month included stopping 23 shots in a 4-3 win over Manitoba on Apr. 3, a 30-save effort in a 5-1 win over league-leading Rochester on Apr. 8 and a 37-save performance as the Senators clinched the division title with a 5-2 win over Hershey on Apr. 16.
In recognition of his achievement, Emery will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Senators home game.
A native of Cayuga, Ont., the 22-year-old Emery finished the 2004-05 regular season with a record of 28-18-5 for Binghamton, establishing a career high for wins. He had a 2.65 GAA and .910 save percentage on the season, leading the Senators to their second East Division title in three years. A 2001 draft choice by Ottawa, Emery has a mark of 76-58-18 and 10 shutouts in 154 career AHL appearances, all with Binghamton, over the last three seasons. He backstopped the Senators to the Eastern Conference final in 2003.
