MANCHESTER, NH - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers were defeated Friday night by the Manchester Monarchs by a final score of 7-0. The Monarchs took advantage of eight power plays, scoring three goals with the man advantage. Kenny Reiter faced 43 shots on the night, and made 36 saves.

Manchester opened the scoring with their first power-play goal at the 2:32 mark of the first period. The Sound Tigers blocked a shot of the stick of Colin Fraser, but the puck redirected to the slot, where Zach O'Brien was there to blast it home.

The Monarchs struck on the power play again later in the period to pick up a 2-0 lead. Reiter made a save on the initial attempt, but the puck stayed loose just outside the crease. Brian O'Neill spotted it and got there to pounce on the rebound. Both goal-scorers for the Monarchs were far from done.

O'Neill got his second goal on a cross-ice pass from Jordan Weal. He fired it past Reiter from the left circle, and gave the Monarchs a 3-0 lead at the 15:15 mark of the second. Two minutes later, O'Brien sprung free on a breakaway after a puck was mishandled at the blue line. He made a move to his backhand and slipped it underneath Reiter to make it a 4-0 game.

The Monarchs pick up two power plays early in the third period, and converted on one of them to make it a 5-0 game. The goal was O'Neill's third of the game and came on a redirection on a shot from Andrew Bodnarchuk. Later in the third period, Tanner Bishop took a shot from the slot that broke his stick, but the puck trickled towards the net front. Nick Shore was there to redirect it past Reiter to make it a 6-0 Monarchs lead. Less than four minutes later, Bishop got a goal of his own after he and O'Brien came into the zone on a 2-on-1, which Bishop finished.

The Sound Tigers return to action for two home games this weekend. They'll face the Worcester Sharks at 7 p.m. Saturday and the Adirondack Phantoms Sunday at 3 p.m.
