Four Third-Period Goals Fuel Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons (37-18-1-5) defeated the Albany Devils by the final score of 6-4 Friday night at the MassMutual Center, scoring four unanswered goals in the third period to complete the comeback and gain a 10-point lead in the Northeast Division.
Jean-Francois Jacques netted the game-winning goal, his second score of the game, at 12:14 of the third period, burying a centering feed from Carter Camper. For Jacques, the goal was his team-leading fifth game-winner of the season. The Montreal, Quebec native also scored the game's first goal, intercepting a pass in the Albany zone and fitting the puck between Devils netminder Keith Kinkaid's pads at 12:47 of the first period.
Patrick McNeill finished the contest with a game-high three points, including a power-play goal at 4:28 of the third period. McNeill's tally cut the Devils lead in half and brought the Falcons to within a single goal, opening the flood gates for three more third-period scores.
Trent Vogelhuber - on a redirection at 8:23 - and Ryan Craig - finishing off of a Michael Chaput feed on an odd-man rush - scored the other two third-period goals for Springfield. For Vogelhuber, the goal was his first of the season.
Newly-acquired defenseman Matt Taormina scored his first goal as a member of the Falcons, burying a rebound in front at the 2:56 mark of the second period to tie the game at two goals apiece. Taormina now has four points (goal, three assists) in four games since joining the club.
Joe Whitney, Harri Pesonen, Mattias Tedenby and Tim Sestito found the back of the net for Albany.
The Falcons went 3-for-3 on the power play Friday for the second consecutive game. The team has converted on its last six opportunities with the man advantage, dating back to the team's 9-3 win over the Portland Pirates Sunday, March 9. The Devils went 1-for-2 on the power play.
Mike McKenna made 19 saves on 23 shots in net for the Falcons, earning his 18th win of the season, which matches Jeremy Smith's total for a share of the team lead.
Kinkaid stopped 22 of 28 shots, falling to 21-10-4 this season. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound goaltender is 1-4-0 this season versus Springfield.
The Falcons, winners of three consecutive games, are back in action at the MassMutual Center Saturday, March 15 to host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m.
