Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, grabbed a 103-93 victory over the Erie Bayhawks in front of a sold-out crowd on Education Day at Sears Centre Arena on Thursday afternoon.
Windy City opened the game well on the offensive end, shooting .500 from the field and .389 from three-point range in the first half, including seven made threes as a team.
The Bulls built a double-digit lead behind 12 points, four rebounds and three assists from Justin Simon as well as ten points and two rebounds from Chicago Bulls Two-Way player Adam Mokoka.
Erie struggled on offense in the opening 24 minutes, shooting .358 from the floor and .263 from beyond the arc. However, the Bayhawks kept things close as Windy City worked to keep New Orleans Pelicans Two-Way player Zylan Cheatham off the glass.
Cheatham ranks second in the G League in rebounds per game (11.6) and finished the half leading Erie in three separate categories with 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
The Bulls held a six-point advantage at the break, 52-46.
Both squads put together runs in the third quarter with Erie going on a 12-2 roll to open the second half behind eight third-quarter points from Jalen Adams.
Windy City answered back with a 15-5 push of their own behind nine points in the frame from Mokoka.
The teams tied the quarter and the Bulls held the lead 74-68 heading into the fourth.
Just as they have in their previous meetings this season, Erie and Windy City battled into the final minutes.
Milton Doyle knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 91 with 2:23 remaining. The Bulls then closed strong on 12-2 run behind threes from Simon and Doyle to seize the win.
It was another big outing for Cheatham against Windy City, as the 6'8" Forward finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and one steal. Adams finished with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Mokoka led the Bulls in the scoring column with 26 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Doyle dropped in three jumpers from long range in the final 12 minutes to end with 22 points, seven assists and seven rebounds, and Jaron Blossomgame finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
