Mobile Doubles up Mississippi

MOBILE, AL - The Braves out hit the BayBears 13-11, but stranded 12 runners on base, including the bases loaded in the ninth inning, losing game four 8-4. The fifth and deciding game will be tomorrow morning at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile.

Mobile (9-9) jumped on Wes Parsons early scoring four runs, two earned, on five hits along with two errors by the Braves infield to take a 4-0 lead after one inning. Matt Thaiss doubled followed by a single by Taylor Ward, Hutton Moyer reached on an error then Michael Barash singled. After another error and a fielder's choice, Riley Unroe and Bo Way also singled before the Braves got out of the inning.

The BayBears plated another run in the second after Thaiss led off with a triple to center field then scored a few batters later on a fielder's choice.

Mississippi (8-11) scored in the fourth when Tyler Neslony singled to lead off, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Tyler Marlette's single.

Mobile put up three more runs in the bottom of the fourth when Thaiss hit a one out double followed by singles by Ward and Moyer. Barash drew a walk before Jose Rojas singled driving in the third run of the inning.

Michael Reed picked up his first and second RBI of the season in the sixth when he delivered a two out single to left field with the bases loaded. Jonathan Morales singled with one out. Then after a fly out, Luis Valenzuela and Cleuluis Rondon both walked setting up Reed.

Austin Riley sent the first pitch he saw in the seventh deep over the left field wall to make the score 8-4 Mobile.

Mississippi used five pitchers on the night combining to give up 11 hits with six walks and seven strikeouts.

Wednesday morning the Braves and BayBears will conclude the five-game series. Mississippi will send RHP Enderson Franco (0-1, 6.00) to the mound to face RHP Jesus Castillo (1-1, 6.39) for Mobile. First pitch from Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile will be 11:05 AM CT.
