Montgomery Biscuits News Release

BILOXI, Mis. - Just as quickly as the Biscuits (6-14) found themselves on a three-game winning streak, they now find themselves on a three-game losing skid, after falling in the series finale and rubber match to Biloxi by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday morning at MGM Park.

The Biscuits got to Shucker starter Thomas Jankins (4-0) early, ripping three-consecutive singles courtesy of Nathan Lukes, Ryan Boldt, and Nick Solak, who put Montgomery up 1-0 with the final one of those hits in the first inning. Jankins would settle down after that though, and at one point retired 15-straight batters between the first and sixth innings.

The Shuckers would tie the game on a Nick Franklin sac fly in the third, and take the lead on a Blake Allemand sac fly in the fifth, both against Montgomery starter Benton Moss (1-2). An inning later, Travis Ott would come on and Dylan Moore would take the lefty over the left field fence to make it a 3-1 game.

In the seventh, Brandon Lowe would hammer a solo shot of his own to bring the Biscuits within a run, but a two-run blast by Jake Gatewood in the eighth would put the game of out of reach. Nate Griep came on in the ninth and converted his seventh save of the season to prevent the Biscuits from winning their first series of the year.

The Biscuits will now head home and open up a five-game series against the Mobile BayBears on Thursday night at 6:35 PM when Genesis Cabrera (1-2) takes on Luis Pena (0-2). The game will feature a T-Shirt giveaway presented by Gipson's Tire Pros. There will also be an adjusted start time from 6:35 PM to 12:05 PM for the Friday April 27th Biscuits game against the BayBears to accommodate the large crowds expected for the "Concert for Peace and Justice" taking place at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre later that evening. The weekend will also feature a traveling exhibit from the Negro League Baseball Museum on the concourses of Riverwalk Stadium.
