Minnesota United FC News Release
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn., -- In celebration of the return to full fan capacity at Allianz Field, and in recognition of the tremendous hardships and setbacks endured by our community and its people during these past months, MNUFC will direct nearly $200,000 to various different local non-profits and organizations over the remaining 2021 season. These grants will begin with the first full capacity game against Austin FC on June 23.
"We are extraordinarily thankful to be returning with our fans and community partners to a full Allianz Field, and believe it a perfect time to extend support to a number of important organizations who are working to make the Twin Cities and extended community better," said Minnesota United CEO Chris Wright. "We believe that these organizations and programs are of tremendous importance and value, are more needed and relevant than ever before, and align well with the community pillars of our Club and the needs of people today."
These donations are directed towards helping individuals and families living under unfortunate circumstances that have been made even worse by recent events and challenges of the last fifteen months. MNUFC is proud to recognize not only its players, supporter groups, season ticket holders and fans, along with corporate and business partners who work for the betterment of our community every day, as part of these donations.
The gifts vary in size and include the new Forever United Scholarship Fund. This program, in partnership with the University of Minnesota, will be led by Minnesota United players and benefits University of Minnesota students from diverse and underserved populations. This will be complimented by a grant made to support early childhood learning in our community. Together, they highlight the critical importance of education and the need to ensure its availability to everyone.
