Colorado Rapids News Release
Shane O'Neill's late challenge on Philadelphia Union midfielder Danny Cruz during last Saturday's 3-3 draw at PPL Park has landed him a one-game ban, courtesy of the MLS Disciplinary Committee.
O'Neill struggled to reach an under-hit pass from Drew Moor in the 11th minute of the game, and caught Cruz with his studs showing. The 20-year-old will miss this Friday's trip to the Portland Timbers.
The Rapids will also be without Vicente Sánchez and Nick LaBrocca through suspension. Sánchez sits out the second of a two-game ban, while LaBrocca is sidelined having picked up a fifth caution of the season in Philly and is banned for yellow card accumulation.
O'Neill joins Sánchez (vs. Columbus Crew) and Dillon Serna (vs. FC Dallas) as players retrospectively banned. All three were initially shown only yellow cards by the match official.
