San Antonio Missions News Release
SAN ANTONIO - After struggling through most of the game, a late inning comeback attempt from the Missions failed and they lost to the Naturals 3-2. Their winning streak ends at five games.
Missions starter Caleb Boushley did not have a warm welcome to the ballgame. On the first pitch of the game, Clay Dungan hit a home run over the right center field wall to give the Naturals an early 1-0 lead.
San Antonio bounced back in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own. Jose Azocar started it off with a walk and then advanced to third on a double from Eguy Rosario. Azocar scored on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Overstreet. The double from Rosario was the team's only hit until the eighth inning.
Northwest Arkansas regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Blake Perkins drove in a run with an RBI single. Bobby Witt, Jr., the second ranked prospect in the MLB, launched a solo home run in the fifth inning to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
Jack Suwinski was robbed of an extra-base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Suwinski hit a deep fly ball that was tracked down and caught by a diving Rudy Martin.
The Missions began a late comeback in the bottom of the eighth inning. Yorman Rodriguez, starting in his first game with the Missions, hit a lead-off home run to cut the lead in half. Michael Curry followed that up with a double. With a runner on second base and no outs, the Missions failed to score Curry.
