Missions Shut Down Riders, 3-1

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders were held to just one run on one hit in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the San Antonio Missions on Thursday night.

The Missions (7-8) drew first blood in the first inning when Kyle Overstreet smacked an RBI double to make it 1-0.

A Jack Suwinski RBI double in the seventh inning made it 2-0 and Overstreet ripped an RBI single to put San Antonio ahead 3-0 in the eighth.

The Riders (9-5) found the scoreboard in the top of the ninth when Yenci Pena scored on a Davis Wendzel RBI groundout, but could not get any closer.

In his start, Cole Winn (0-1) was strong despite being handed the loss, allowing just one run on three hits over his six innings while striking out five and walking one. The six innings Winn threw were the most out of any RoughRiders starter in 2021.

Aaron Leasher (1-1) earned the win in his start for San Antonio, allowing just one hit in his five shutout innings. Jose Quezada received the save, his second of the season.

The RoughRiders continue their six-game series against San Antonio on Friday, May 21 with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch for game four. RHP Yerry Rodriguez (0-1, 8.31) will start for the Riders while San Antonio will send RHP Reiss Knehr (2-0, 4.50) to the mound.
