San Antonio Missions News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI-In what could only be described as Theater of the Absurd, the Missions blew a 9-6 ninth inning lead for the second time in three nights as the Hooks moved one game ahead in the South with two left.

A crowd of 7,157 at Whataburger Field watched the Hooks franchise-record 11th walkoff win of the year and their fifth in August.

Corpus got to a normally reliable Jeremy McBryde, who suffered only his second blown save. McBryde walked two in the ninth inning and with two outs had a 1-2 count on Ronny Torreyes, who lined a game-tying triple to right.

Preston Tucker beat out a hit to the catcher to bring in the winning run.

The loss was the Missions season-high fourth straight and their fifth walkoff defeat of the month, with three coming on this road trip.

Tommy Medica matched a season high with four hits for San Antonio, including his 16th homerun.

Notebook: The Missions have six blown saves in August after suffering 11 over the first four months. They've blown a lead in the 7th inning or later in four of their last six losses
