Grichuk, Parker Named TL TOPPS Players of the Month

North Little Rock, AR-- Tuesday TOPPS recognized Arkansas OF Randal Grichuk and Tulsa INF/OF Kyle Parker as the Texas League Players of the Month for August.

Grichuk hit .304 in August and tallied 35 hits, which was his most for a single month this season. The Rosenberg, Texas native had two two home run games, and ended the month with seven long balls.

Grichuk blasted a pair of home runs at Corpus Christi on August 11, and less than two weeks later repeated the feat by hitting two round trippers at Tulsa on August 23. Additionally, Grichuk had 12 multi-hit games, and also produced two four-hit efforts.

Grichuk led the Texas League in Runs (22), Extra Base Hits (16), Total Bases (66), Home Runs (7), and Slugging (.574) during August.

Parker batted .330 in August, slugged five home runs, and drove in 23 runs.

Grichuk's Travelers face Parker's Drillers in the North Division Championship series. The best-of-five series begins Wednesday at ONEOK Field at 7:05 p.m. Arkansas sends LH Michael Roth to mound in the opening game against Tulsa RH Christian Bergman.
