Missions Come up Short against Hooks

CORPUS CHRISTI-The Hooks clinched the South Division second half to secure home field advantage in the upcoming playoff series Sunday afternoon in front of 6,006 at Whataburger Field.

Adam Buschini was called out at first by a half step on a grounder to end the game with the tying run at third base.

The Hooks tied a season-high with four errors, leading to five unearned runs.

Domingo Santana homered twice and drove in four runs for Corpus.

Ryan Kelly and Tim Sexton were charged with all seven runs in four combined innings with Kelly taking the loss.

The Missions head into postseason having lost five of six and nine of the last 12. The best-of-five series begins Wendesday night in Corpus.

Notebook: The Missions bullpen is 0-5, four blown saves, and a 7.50 ERA in the last nine games...Cory Spangenberg's hit streak was snapped at 14, matching the team high.
