CORPUS CHRISTI-Tommy Medica's monster night at the plate helped lead the Missions to a much-needed win Sunday night and force a tie for first place in front of 6,626 at Whataburger Field.
Medica was 4x5, homered twice, doubled and drove in three runs to help the club snap a season-high four game losing streak and catch the Hooks in the standings.
He is 8x9, three homers, and a pair of doubles in the first two games of the series.
Juan Oramas allowed three runs in the second inning but was otherwise spotless over five innings of work.
The lefty posted the second lowest ERA among full-season pitchers in August, allowing just three runs in six starts.
Eight Missions drove in at least one run and seven of the nine scored at least once.
Notebook: The Missions, last in the league in runs, have scored 32 in the last four games. San Antonio has scored 90 runs in 13 games at Whataburger Field this year...The winner of Mondays game gets homefield advantage in the upcoming best-of-five playoff series.
