Miss Lou Lou Gehrig on Disabled List
May 17, 2015 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greensboro Grasshoppers News Release
(Greensboro, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers announced today that Miss Lou Lou Gehrig will miss today's game and possibly more due to a right hind leg injury. The popular Labrador Retriever bat dog came up lame as she was warming up for her 7th inning bat fetching duties during last night's game vs. the Delmarva Shorebirds.
"Lou Lou had a serious limp and I didn't think it was wise for her to work," said Grasshoppers President and General Manager Donald Moore. "She will be evaluated by her doctor Monday morning and we hope it is nothing serious."
Three year old Lou Lou is being groomed to take over for the legendary Miss Babe Ruth, who recently announced her retirement effective at the end of the 2015 season.
"Our dogs work very hard and unfortunately injuries are part of the game," Moore continued. "It also reinforces how incredible Babe's streak is, as she worked her 597th consecutive game last night."
The Grasshoppers conclude their four game home stand today at 4:00PM against the Delmarva Shorebirds. For ticket information call 336-268-2255 or go to www.gsohoppers.com.
