
Mirizzi, Cats sweep away Aviators

Marc Mirizzi's 10th-inning RBI single drove home Jordan Foster with the winning run as the Cats edged Coastal Bend 5-4 Thursday night at LaGrave Field.
The win gave Fort Worth sole possesion of first place in the South, with a one-game lead.
The Cats fell behind 4-3 going to the bottom of the eighth after Coastal Bend benefited from back-to-back bases-loaded walks in the eighth.
After two were out in the Cats' half of the eighth, Foster singled, Adolfo singled and the Mirizzi knotted the game with an RBI double off the left field wall.
Zane Carlson (3-5) held the Aviators off the scoreboard in the ninth and 10th innings. He ended up going 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.
With two outs in the 10th, the Cats followed a similar script as Foster singled, Adolfo singled and the Mirizzi drove home the winner with a liner to right-center.
Foster was 4-for-5 in the game, Adolfo and Mirizzi each had three hits. Mirizzi had three runs batted in in the game.
Tony Mota homered in the fourth inning for the Cats. Ryan Russ and Matt Creighton went deep early for Coastal Bend.
The Cats go to El Paso to close out the season's first half with a chance to clinch the division. Kevin Hull (4-2) will go for the Cats on Friday. Coastal Bend returns home to take on Shreveport.
