Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans announced today Baseball America Executive Editor Jim Callis will be the featured guest on the weekly Pelicans Coach's Show on Saturday, July 1. Callis's specialty with Baseball America is following prospects through the minor leagues and focusing on the June Draft. The show airs LIVE from New York Nick's in downtown Pensacola from noon to 1 p.m.
Baseball America has been around since 1981 starting up in White Rock, British Columbia and has evolved into a full-service media company, with a bi-weekly magazine. Now operating out of Durham, North Carolina since 1983, Baseball America has three additional branches in New York, Chicago and Atlanta. Callis is based out of the Chicago office and has been with the magazine for 15 years.
Hosts Paul Chestnutt and Eric Lewitke will also be joined by Pelicans Manager Kash Beauchamp to discuss his team and their current six-game road trip through Northern Division teams St. Paul Saints and St. Joe Blacksnakes to end the first half of the season. Currently there is a three-way tie for first place between Pensacola, Coastal Bend, and last year's Central Baseball League Champion Fort Worth Cats. The winner of the first half gets an automatic spot in the post-season.
After their northern swing, the Pelicans come home July 4th for three games against Sioux Falls before embarking on a six-day, six-game road trip to El Paso.
At the end of June, the Pelicans have a team earned run average (ERA) of 3.79, ranked third in the American Association and a team batting average of .291 putting the Pelicans first in the league. The Pelicans have three players: Trino Aguilar, Ed Montague, and Carlos Mendoza that are ranked in the top-ten in the American Association in batting.
Fans can but tickets to any Pelicans game by visiting the Pelicans office, calling the Pelicans at 850-934-8444, or by visiting the website at www.penscolapelicans.com.
