St. Joseph, MO-For the third straight day, St. Joe (24-21) and Sioux Falls (15-30) met in a tight pitcher's duel, and the Canaries earned the 3-1 win. It was their first victory at Phil Welch Stadium in 10 tries.

Both St. Joe's Mark Nussbeck and Sioux Falls' Tony Cogan were outstanding and went the distance.

Sioux Falls plated a run in the first against Nussbeck on a sacrifice fly by Chad Hermansen and St. Joe tied it at one in the second on Scooter Jordan's single.

Nussbeck (4-2) allowed just seven hits and three runs while striking out seven batters in his first complete game of the season. Cogan (4-1) limited the 'Snakes to just seven hits and one run with five strikeouts.

Scooter Jordan and Wil Quintana each had two hits for the 'Snakes attack, and Jordan has reached safely now in all 43 consecutive ballgames to start the season.

The 'Snakes will now welcome the Pensacola Pelicans to Phil Welch for a weekend series to close out the first half. Friday's starters are Jesen Merle (2-1) for St. Joe against Todd Androsko (3-1) for the Pelicans. Game time is 7:05pm with a fireworks display following the ballgame and the gates open at 6pm.
