
Minnesota Recalls Graovac and Bertschy, Assigns Pulkkinen

DES MOINES, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Saturday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forwards Christoph Bertschy (pronounced Burr-chee) and Tyler Graovac (pronounced GRAY-oh-vack) from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Minnesota also announced forward Teemu Pulkkinen (pronounced TEE-moo PUHL-kih-nuhn) has been assigned to Iowa.
Bertschy, 22 (4/5/94), recorded a goal and assist in Iowa's 6-1 win vs. Milwaukee last night in Des Moines. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound forward has totaled four points (2-24) in seven games with Iowa this season, ranking T-2nd in shots (16), third in goals and T-3rd in points. The Fribourg, Switzerland, native has played three career NHL contests - all with Minnesota last season. Last season, he also totaled 35 points (11-2435) in 72 games with the Iowa, leading the team in games played, assists, and shots on goal (187) and ranking third in scoring. His shot total also ranked second amongst AHL rookies. He was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (158th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Graovac, 23 (4/27/93), posted three points (2-13) and was named the game's No. 1 Star in Iowa's 6-1 win vs. Milwaukee yesterday. The 6-foot-5, 212-pound native of Brampton, Ont., has totaled four points (3-14) in six games with Iowa this season, leading the team in power-play goals (2), ranking T-1st in goals and T-2nd in shots (16). Last season, he registered 16 points (5-1116) in 39 games with Iowa and appeared in two games with Minnesota, suffering an injury in the season opener on Oct. 8 and undergoing bilateral core muscle repair surgery on Nov. 3. Graovac has played in five games with Minnesota over two seasons (2014-16) after being selected by the Wild in the seventh round (191st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in Saint Paul. He wears jersey No. 44 with Minnesota.
Pulkkinen, 24 (1/2/92), recorded one goal in eight games with Minnesota after being claimed off of waivers from the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 11. The Vantaa, Finland, native owns 21 points (12-921) in 78 career NHL contests with Detroit and Minnesota. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound forward has also totaled 121 points (65-56121) in 119 AHL games with the Grand Rapids Griffins (2013-15). He was originally selected by Detroit in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
After road games in Milwaukee and Grand Rapids, Iowa returns home on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 5 PM with the Rockford IceHogs. It's ZERO Prostate Awareness Night, which marks the beginning of "Movember" - a month long initiative where men grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. Sunday's game is also Pucks & Paws Night, presented by Anderson Animal Hospital. Participating sponsors include Downtown Doggy Daycare and Copper Cup. For the first 400 fans (and their dog), will be given a Iowa Wild themed Pet Bowl presented by Anderson Animal Hospital and Lazer 103.3. There will also be a Pet Food Drive that benefits the Animal Rescue League. Sunday night is also Subway Combo Pack night. There will be a Postgame Skate after the game for all fans.
The Wild hosts Wild About Education on Thursday, Nov. 10 with a 10:30 a.m. faceoff against Charlotte, presented by Amerigroup Iowa Inc. and the Science Center. Thursday's game is also Corporate Field Trip day. Fans may bring a Subway receipt to purchase a ticket for $5.00. Thursday's game is also a Mug Club day.
