St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The St. John's IceCaps fell 5-2 to the Rochester Americans in the second game of the 2016-17 Molson Canadian Opening Weekend at Mile One Centre. Rochester's William Carriere kicked off the scoring with a shorthanded tally near the middle of the first. Dan Audette tied it up with his first pro-goal, while Bobby Farnham and Joel Hanley picked up the assists. Carriere, with his second marker of the night, and Cole Schneider, pulled the Amerks ahead 3-1, before Nikita Scherbak scored a beauty from Audette and netminder Yann Danis to bring the IceCaps within one. Just 37 seconds later Rochester's Nick Baptiste would answer with his first of the night. The IceCaps played hard in the third, outshooting the Americans 14-8 in the final frame, but Baptiste would register his second tally of the game with an empty netter to lift the Amerks to 5-2 over the IceCaps.
